Yoga Classes

Yoga on the beach

Beginners Ashtanga Yoga

This class is the beginners version of the Ashtanga Primary series. It includes standing and seated poses in a flowing sequence, which after practice becomes a meditative sequence of poses. You will see great improvements in flexibility and strength through this practice not only in the body but also in the mind.

Who is it for?

This works on and towards the full Ashtanga Primary series (or as much of it as we can fit in) with modifications and progressions for any individual needs. It is a flowing sequence of set poses including standing and seated which builds strength and flexibility in the body and the mind. You will see a great improvement of strength, flexibility and flow the more you practice. It is a challenging class but worthwhile!

Meditation and Pranayama

This course starts with breathing techniques to focus and calm the mind and cleanse and detoxify the body. Once the mind is calm and focused through the breathing you will then do a mindfulness meditation. Meditation is the space between your thoughts and a time to practice feeling content in the moment you are in. The more you practice meditation the calmer you will be. When you have fewer thoughts rushing through your head your mind will be more efficient.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a slower form of Yoga done from cold. You gradually and gently go into and out of poses holding for longer periods of time to allow the connective tissue to release and lengthen. It causes change to muscles, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments. It also has a meditative element due to the long held postures it works on calming the mind, focusing on breath and body awareness whilst holding the postures.
