A little bit about me

Alison dancing

I started out as a dancer studying Performing Arts at college and going on to receive a BA Hons in Dance, specialising in Dance Science at Middlesex University. At university I practiced Pilates as part of my dance training and found it increased the awareness of my body, corrected my posture, prevented injuries and strengthened my dance technique. It also helped me rehab from an ankle injury.

Pilates made me think in detail about how I was moving and positioning my body not only in dance but everyday tasks to minimise stresses and strains on my body. Also during university, I had a sports massage on an ongoing hamstring injury.

After 3 deep and I have to say painful treatments I never had a problem with it again. From this point I decided to specialise in Dance Science studying Pilates in more depth and biomechanics of the human body. I graduated in 2006 and went on to study Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy at NLSSM graduating in 2007.

Meanwhile I worked as a dancer and dance teacher until 2008 when I started working for Inline Heath based at The Sweatshop Running Store, Newnham Court that I now own and run. I trained as a Pilates Matwork teacher in 2009 with Pilates Foundation UK gaining my qualification in July 2010.

Yoga has always been a hobby in the background and I always said if I was going to teach it I would trai to do it in India. So In 2014 I went out to India to train with Lalit Kumar at the Himalaya Yoga Valley in Goa. It was the best decision of my life. I fell in love with Yoga more than I ever thought I would. Due to my anatomical background I went into it with an anatomy head and then realized the other effects beyond physical that this practice can give you and I now strive to share and pass on all those benefits to others.

Pilates Classes
his class is for those suffering with lower back and hip problems.
Yoga Classes
This class is the beginners version of the Ashtanga Primary series.
One to One
It is advisable to have a one to one session before you begin a Pilates course.
